Effective January 2026.
BoomTownIndex is a read-only research site. We do not sell products, we do not run accounts or logins, and we do not collect any personal information from visitors. The only data we collect is standard anonymous analytics.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage — which pages are popular, where visitors come from, roughly what device and browser they're on. Google's analytics is anonymized and does not identify individual visitors to us. If you prefer not to be tracked at all, browser-level Do Not Track settings or ad-blocking extensions that block Google Analytics will fully opt you out.
We don't set cookies directly. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies for its own session attribution. These cookies contain no personal information and expire according to Google's standard schedule.
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (S3 + CloudFront). AWS logs standard access information (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) for security and operational purposes. We don't combine server logs with analytics data.
External links on the site (to Census Bureau, BLS, BEA, and other federal data sources) are outbound references. Once you click them, you're on someone else's site under their privacy policy.
Because we don't collect identifiable personal data, there's nothing to request, correct, or delete on our side. If you'd like Google Analytics to forget you, Google provides an opt-out browser add-on.
If we ever add functionality that requires collecting personal data, we'll update this policy with an effective date before the change ships.
